Your Apple Watch Is Listening Now

Your Apple Watch just learned to listen — and it's not asking permission first.

Apple's new Audio Intelligence landed on the Series 12 and Ultra 4 this week, and the headliner is Live Rewind: miss something someone said, and your watch plays the last thirty seconds back. It's a DVR for your ears, strapped to your wrist. On top of that there's Siri Recap — AI summaries of your actual conversations — plus sound alerts that listen for sirens, alarms, and doorbells.

Apple Watch Series 12 — gold case, the star of the new listening features

The Series 12 — now paying attention even when you aren't.

Apple Watch Ultra 4 — titanium, with the Readiness widget on display

The Ultra 4 — tracking your body and, apparently, your small talk.

Siri Recap — AI summaries of your conversations, on iPhone and Watch

Siri Recap, summarizing a "Personal Training Routine" it overheard. Totally normal.

Apple swears it all runs on-device and stays private. Which is the exact thing every company says right before your wrist starts quietly taking notes on every conversation you've ever had. Cool feature. Genuinely useful. Also the most "we'll explain this in a few years" energy I've seen from Cupertino in a while.
