X Now Points at Its Own Promote Button

X has found a new way to get your attention: while you're typing a post, a hand appears on screen and points directly at the Promote button. Not an arrow. Not a subtle highlight. A full pointing hand — like a museum tour guide who really, really wants you to see the gift shop.

Users started posting about it within 24 hours: the hand shows up mid-compose, aimed straight at the Promote button, and nobody's quite sure why it's there — or how to make it leave.

Nobody asked for it, either. Digital Trends calls it "creepy"; Tech Times flagged the "intrusive design." The consensus: the pointing is a lot.

You were just trying to tweet. The app had other plans. Bold strategy — literally pointing at your own checkout button and hoping shame does the rest.
