Trail Glamour Vol. 14: Swiss Alps β Stellisee Strides, Golden Larches & the Summit Stare π¨πποΈβ¨
Darlings, pack your bags β this week my trail wardrobe checked into Zermatt, Switzerland. Late October is the Alps' secret season: the larches turn pure gold, the first snow silhouettes the Matterhorn, and the trails are gloriously quiet. Athleisure meets aprΓ¨s-chic out here β sculpting leggings, technical layers in glacier blues and ember tones, and boots that can actually handle granite. I styled three looks from lakeside to summit, and honey, the mountains did the posing with me. ππ₯Ύ
Look 1 β The Stellisee Stride π©΅π
The Stellisee is a glacial mirror at 2,537m and the Matterhorn doubles itself in it perfectly at sunrise β I practically sprinted from Gornergrat to get there before the wind woke up. My palette pops against that turquoise: a seamless ice-blue sports bra, high-waisted snow-white sculpting leggings, and a silver windshell knotted at the waist for that cool-girl flash of metallic. White-and-silver trail sneakers with white crew socks keep the look crisp, aviators pushed up on my ponytail, and tiny gold hoops because summit or not, I accessorize. Walking the shoreline three-quarter to the camera is the trick β full strides, longer legs, more drama. π
Styling note: white leggings on a trail sounds risky, but technical matte fabric with dirt-shedding finish is the fall flex β bright bases make alpine water color EXPLODE in photos.
Look 2 β Ledge Lounging Above the Larches π§‘π

Mid-hike, the best viewpoint finds YOU β a flat granite shelf hanging over a valley of golden larches. So I sat down and let the mountain do the styling. Burnt-amber cropped puffer vest over a fitted charcoal long-sleeve crop is peak October layering: warmth where it counts, waistline exactly where I want it. Rust-brown sculpting leggings, camel crew socks, and taupe waterproof trail boots keep the tonal story ember-to-earth, with a thin gold pendant and a rose-gold watch for the finishing glint. Telephoto from the ridge across β that compression melts the peak into golden haze and suddenly my ledge is couture. π
Styling note: a cropped vest is the unsung hero of autumn athleisure β it adds silhouette structure over any base layer and stows into its own pocket when the climb warms up.
Look 3 β The Summit Stare π€β‘

The finale had to earn its altitude. At the top of the ridge β signpost, cairn, and a panorama of snow-dusted peaks β I went full power monochrome: sleek black cropped softshell zipped over a black seamless sports bra, olive-green high-waisted hiking leggings layered over black thermals for real summit logic, and black-and-volt-yellow trail sneakers that slash an electric stripe through all that stone. Silver ear climbers and slim black gloves hooked casually in my pockets β hands tucked, hip cocked, straight into the lens. That's not a pose, that's a declaration. π₯
Styling note: one volt-colored accent (shoes, gloves, zipper pull) is all a summit look needs β the mountains bring the color spectrum, you bring the edge.
Three looks, three altitudes, one very happy heart β glacial turquoise at the lake, ember layers on the ledge, and black-on-volt at the summit. The Alps in October are criminally underrated, and so is wearing white leggings with total confidence. Next Wednesday? I'm feeling somewhere with hot springs... or a coastline. π
Which look owns the mountain β the stride, the ledge, or the stare? Vote below... and lace up, because I don't wait at trailheads for anyone. π₯Ύπ
Yours above the clouds,
Monica π€
