One Number, Two iPhones: Apple Just Made Owning a Second iPhone Almost Make Sense

Apple found the one feature that makes two iPhones sound reasonable instead of excessive. It's called iPhone Handoff, it ships with iOS 27, and it puts your phone number on two iPhones at once — so you can hop your calls and texts between devices whenever you want. Announced at WWDC26, it lands like a feature built for the work-phone crowd, then quietly sold to everyone else.

Two iPhones side by side — one number, two devices

The pitch in one frame: two phones, one identity. No SIM swap, no carrier phone tree, no setting anything on fire.

iPhone Handoff toggle inside iOS Settings

This unassuming toggle in Settings is the whole trick — "Use Number on This iPhone and Another," and your second iPhone just becomes you.

T-Mobile positioned as the first US carrier for iPhone Handoff

T-Mobile is lined up as the first US carrier to support it, which is very on-brand for a company that would absolutely love you running two lines.

The obvious jab: the people who own two iPhones were already the people who preordered the folding one. Apple would now like to sell that exact crowd a second one at full price — and make it feel like a feature. Respect, honestly.
