Sunday Entertainment Edition: 9 Must-Watch Hardware Videos, DreamHack Stockholm & The Week RAM Got Personal
Happy Sunday, nerds! It's November 8, 2026, the coffee is hot, and honestly? This was one of the messiest, most entertaining weeks in PC hardware YouTube in a long time. We got Nvidia getting called out in a video title with the word "lied" in it, Steve from Gamers Nexus doing his best disappointed-economics-teacher impression, Jayz drowning a GPU (for science), and the OpenAI CEO accidentally becoming the most hated man in r/buildapc. Grab a snack — here are the nine videos I'd actually watch this week, plus every event worth marking on the calendar before the holiday rush swallows us whole.
📺 The Watchlist: 9 Videos Worth Your Sunday
1. Gamers Nexus — "Nvidia Lied About DLSS Frame Generation" Steve Burke and the GN team put a community mod through its paces that lets RTX 30-series cards run Nvidia's own DLSS Frame Generation — the feature we were all told was hardware-locked to RTX 40 and newer. The results are exactly as spicy as the title suggests, and it's less about the mod itself and more about how "hardware limitation" gets used as a marketing tool. If you're still rocking an RTX 3080, this one's personal.
2. Hardware Unboxed — "In Hindsight, Should AMD Have Made an RX 9080 XT?" Tim gives AMD's whole RDNA 4 strategy the retroactive what-if treatment, with full benchmark spreadsheets — the thing HUB does better than anyone. In a week where GPU prices jumped ~35% in three months per their own 10-country survey, asking "what could have been" hits different. It's armchair product strategy with actual data, and I ate it up.
3. Gamers Nexus — "The NVIDIA RTX 5090 Problem & Future Generation Price Creep" Meanwhile, over at GN, it's an editorial on where GPU pricing is headed — and why the RTX 5090's situation is a warning shot for the entire next generation. If you watch one "serious" video this week, make it this one. The price-creep argument pairs beautifully (and terribly) with the fact that an RTX 5070 — a $599-class card at launch — now starts at $899 on Amazon. More on that in the Price Check below. Bring a cushion for your wallet.
4. JayzTwoCents — "Is THIS the best gaming system ever made?" Jayz takes the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X20 handheld for a spin and answers the only question that matters: legit upgrade or cash grab? Spoiler-free verdict from me: it's a genuinely fun watch regardless of which side you land on, and handheld season is officially upon us with the holidays coming.
5. JayzTwoCents — "What happens if water leaks inside your PC?" The single most-asked question in the AIO comments section, finally answered with Jayz's signature "let's just deliberately break something and film it" energy. Great weekend content — and genuinely reassuring if you've been paranoid about that AIO sitting over your GPU.
6. Linus Tech Tips — "I've never seen this before (and it's 20 years old.)" LTT closed the week with a retro mystery box of weirdness — a 20-year-old piece of hardware that genuinely stumped the crew. That's the sweet spot: half nostalgia trip, half "why does this exist," fully entertaining. Perfect couch viewing while you wait for your DDR5 order to (maybe, eventually) ship.
7. Dave2D — "MacBook Pro OLED Review - Is Touch ACTUALLY Useful?" Dave finally answers the question Windows users have been smugly asking for a decade: does a touchscreen MacBook actually make sense? Spoiler: Dave's verdict is nuanced, refreshingly hype-free as always, and the OLED panel itself looks absolutely gorgeous in his footage.
8. Marques Brownlee — "OLED iPad Mini is The Most Apple Product They've Ever Appled" MKBHD on the redesigned iPad mini — OLED, nano-texture option, acoustic display tricks, and a price bump he describes with visible restraint. It's the week's most Apple Apple review, and the "Most Apple Product They've Ever Appled" framing is a genuinely great bit.
9. Hardware Unboxed — "Using an Old CPU? An RTX 5070 Might Be Pointless (CPU Scaling Benchmark)" The most practically useful video of the week: a full CPU-scaling benchmark proving that dropping an RTX 5070 into an older system can be a waste of money. If you're planning a Black Friday upgrade, watch this BEFORE you click buy. It also retroactively explains my last build guide's pairing choices.
Bonus deep cut: GN's "ISPs Can Use WiFi to See You" ft. Wendell of Level1Techs — a genuinely unsettling conversation about WiFi sensing and what your ISP can infer from radio reflections in your home. Watched it, then unplugged my router, then plugged it back in because, well, I needed the internet.
📅 Mark Your Calendar: The Road to DreamHack
The next six weeks are absolutely stacked:
- TwitchCon San Diego — November 13–15, San Diego Convention Center. The creator-economy circus rolls into SoCal.
- CS2 Major (Singapore) — November 24 to December 13. 32 teams, with the final four days at Singapore Indoor Stadium. Clear your evenings.
- DreamHack Stockholm — November 27–29 at Stockholmsmässan. The big one for LAN people: bring-your-own-PC freeplay LAN, esports, a 100-booth expo, cosplay, and tabletop. If you've never done a proper DreamHack LAN, this is your sign — there is nothing like 2,000 PCs humming in one hall.
- PUBG Global Championship — Istanbul. Because chicken dinners travel well.
- OWCS World Finals — early December, wrapping the Overwatch Champions Series season.
No major silicon launch events confirmed for the coming week yet, but the rumor mill is churning: TechPowerUp's tracking lists RTX 5080/5070 Ti "Super" refreshes, Zen 6, and Intel's Panther Lake all in the pipeline, and NVIDIA's RTX Spark desktop box is slated for November. Expect November 2026 to get very loud, very fast.
😤 Community Corner: The Week RAM Got Personal
The discourse of the week wasn't a GPU at all — it was a quote. On a podcast, Sam Altman mused that "from a global allocation perspective, actually it's quite terrible to have everybody have a bunch of the world's limited supply of DRAM sitting in their computer and being used 5% of the time." The internet — already grumpy about DDR5 prices — did what the internet does. Within days, Altman was calling the backlash "f***ing annoying" and insisting he was taken out of context, telling critics "I want you to have so much RAM."
Here's why gamers took it personally, though — the numbers are brutal. A 32GB DDR5-6000 kit that cost roughly $100 a year ago now runs $460–$600 USD, and that AI-driven demand is exactly what Hardware Unboxed's price surveys and Jayz's "I'm worried about the 5080" video have been documenting all month. When the guy whose company is consuming the world's memory supply shrugs about the RAM in your gaming PC, r/pcgaming is going to have opinions. My favorite top comment: "the 5% usage in my PC is much more useful than AI that's only used by others." Screenshot it, frame it.
💸 Price Check: What Your Entertainment Is Costing You (USD + CAD)
You know the drill — nxpc always brings live dual-market pricing from Amazon US and Amazon Canada. This week it doubles as a horror story.
DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz kits:
| Kit | Amazon US (USD) | Amazon CA (CAD) |
|---|---|---|
| G.SKILL Ripjaws S5 CL36 | $460.00 (only 1 left!) | — |
| CORSAIR Vengeance RS CL38 | $484.99 | $679.99 |
| Patriot Viper Venom CL30 | $489.99 | $659.99 |
| Crucial Pro CL36 | $574.99 | $649.00 |
| CORSAIR Vengeance CL30 | $579.99 (was $625.99) | $789.99 |
RTX 5070 12GB — the "$599 card":
| Card | Amazon US (USD) | Amazon CA (CAD) |
|---|---|---|
| PNY EPIC-X RGB OC | $899.00 | $1,341.40 |
| ASUS Prime OC | $909.99 | $1,299.99 |
| MSI Shadow 2X OC | $998.96 | $1,399.99 |
| ASUS TUF OC | $1,318.98 | $1,349.97 |

Real talk, Steve: the cheapest RTX 5070 I could find is $899 USD, and north of the border you're looking at $1,299+ CAD. Stock warnings are everywhere ("only 1 left," "only 6 left") on both RAM and GPUs, which tracks with the supply crunch everyone's covering. My advice remains what it was in the summer build guide — if you already have a healthy system, this is a fantastic month to not upgrade and to instead watch YouTube about upgrading.
🏁 The Verdict
This week reminded me why the PC community is the best corner of tech YouTube: when prices get ugly and CEOs say silly things, the response is thousands of creators weaponizing benchmarks, mods, and spreadsheets instead of just vibes. Watch the DLSS mod saga, queue up DreamHack Stockholm tickets if you're feeling brave, and maybe hold off on that RAM purchase until the dust settles.
Drop your own pick of the week in the comments — and if you're going to DreamHack Stockholm or TwitchCon, tell me what b-roll you'd want. I'm already packing the camera.
