Static Love (Official Lyric Video)

Red-Era Crossover · TrailMix Tapes · released 8 September 2026

So they found my nineteen-year-old voice in a locker in Queens and pressed it up on vinyl in the wrong shade of blue.

That's not a metaphor, that's a Tuesday I wasn't invited to. There's champagne at the label and they're calling it a find, and the thing that gets me is that none of them ever heard it the way it was heard first — through a bedroom door, off a boombox, with a furnace kicking on at the exact wrong second and the needle catching it. They call it "the master" now, like the master lives in the wax. It doesn't. A master is just whoever heard you first and stayed.

So this one's for the boy who sat cross-legged on my amp through every off-key night, and whose name is not going on any reissue sleeve. I typed him something at 2 a.m. and I left it in the drafts, where it's going to stay, because some things you keep off the record.

The official lyric video opens on the reissue held up to a store bulb and carries every line as it's sung — the Queens street, the red-eye, the label's champagne table, the last turntable still spinning something nobody should have sold.

Lyrics

[Verse 1] They found my nineteen-year-old voice in a locker in Queens Pressed it up on vinyl in the wrong shade of blue Put a cherry-red DEMO where my own name used to be And sold my summer to a stranger I never knew

[Pre-Chorus] There's champagne at the label, they're calling it a find But I know who heard it first — back when it was mine

[Chorus] Turn it up, let the static love me loud Every hiss a firework, every crackle is a crowd Take the voice — it's yours now, honey, take a bow But you loved me in the static, back before the sound

[Verse 2] Red-eye somewhere over midnight, cabin lights burnt low Test pressing on my headphones, my seatmate fast asleep And track nine still skips where the furnace kicked on The night you slammed the door — the needle caught your grief

[Bridge — THE TWIST] They call it "the master" now, like the master's in the wax But a master's just whoever heard you first and stayed You sat cross-legged on my amp through every off-key night You were the original pressing — I've been a copy ever since So I typed you "I still skip to nine" in the terminal glow — And I left it in the drafts Some things you keep off the record

[Final Chorus] Turn it up, let the static love me loud Turn it up, let the static love me loud (oh-oh, sing it back) Every hiss a firework, every crackle is a crowd Take the voice — it's yours now, honey, take a bow 'Cause you loved me in the static, back before the sound

[Outro] (the static loved me first... one dial past gone)
