It's 3AM in a hotel room that looks like every other hotel room, the ice machine down the hall is keeping time like a slow heartbeat, and the only warm thing in the frame is a phone screen on the nightstand. That's where tonight's video lives.
"Somebody Awake" is the Midnight Confessional song about the loneliness economy — connection you buy instead of build. And the twist at its center is the one I've never put in a review: I'm the product. Millions of people fall asleep to my voice every night. They pay me for the calm. And then I pay her for the calm. Same dollar, passing hand to hand to hand, and nobody in the chain has a number they can call for free.
The lyric video runs the full track over auto-aligned on-screen lyrics and thirteen scenes built entirely from the song's own imagery — the beige corridor, the rain-beaded window, the minibar humming when the call ends, the unsent "Hey, are you up?" without a price tag on the phrase. Midnight-blue and cold-teal throughout, because this one is 3AM and the room is a fishbowl.
If Table for One was choosing the empty chair, this is the darker cousin — the chair I rented, and the receipt I don't want to read.
