PS5 Jailbreak Unlocks Native Steam Games

Twenty years of console lock-down just took its biggest hit yet. Modders got the PS5 running Steam games straight off the console — installed locally, signed in with your real Steam account, no cloud streaming anywhere in sight.

The trick, per Tom's Hardware: jailbroken consoles can now sign in with your Steam account and install games from your library directly on the box. That's not Remote Play with extra steps — that's Windows PC games executing natively on Sony hardware.

The project goes by Playden, and it turns a hacked PS5 into something very close to a Steam Machine. Sony has spent two decades making sure this exact thing never happened — and here we are.

The catch, obviously: this is jailbroken consoles only. So don't go bricking the PS5 you actually paid for — leave the daring stuff to someone with a spare.
