On My Terms
On My Terms
It's Wednesday — midweek, where ambition either carries you or grinds you down. Today's nxmusic drop takes the 2026 side of hustle: the anti-burnout wave. Workers — Gen Z especially, per Upwork's 2026 reporting — are redefining the grind, working to live instead of living to work. This one rides that current with a grin instead of a guilt trip.
Sonically it's a brand-new lane for the channel: bouncy UK garage 2-step pop — skippy shuffled drums, deep rolling sub bass, crisp rimshots, chopped vocal ad-libs — with a smooth R&B-pop topline and a chorus made for chanting down the Wednesday commute.
🎶 Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Monday used to hit like a starting gun
I'd sprint through the week till the weekend come
Now I take the steps and I feel every one
The view's better when you don't outrun the sun
[Pre-Chorus]
I want the win, not the war
I want the life, not just the chore
So I move how I move, on my own beat
Been knowing my worth, now the world gon' see
[Chorus]
On my terms, on my time
I can want the world and still be fine
No trophy for the busiest, no medal for the burn
I work to live, now watch me earn
(On my terms) yeah, I get mine
(On my terms) on my time
[Verse 2]
They say sleep when you're dead, I say dream while you're here
Rest is a power move, loud and clear
I closed the laptop, made a plan in the dark
Same fire, better aim, done chasing sparks
[Pre-Chorus]
I want the win, not the war
I want the life, not just the chore
So I move how I move, on my own beat
Been knowing my worth, now the world gon' see
[Chorus]
On my terms, on my time
I can want the world and still be fine
No trophy for the busiest, no medal for the burn
I work to live, now watch me earn
(On my terms) yeah, I get mine
(On my terms) on my time
[Bridge]
Work hard, live soft, breathe deep
What's mine is mine, it don't cost me sleep
Say it till the doubt can't speak
Work hard, live soft, breathe deep
(Soft, soft, live soft)
[Chorus]
On my terms, on my time
I can want the world and still be fine
No trophy for the busiest, no medal for the burn
I work to live, now watch me earn
(On my terms) yeah, I get mine
(On my terms) on my time
[Outro]
On my terms, on my time
I get mine, I get mine
On my terms
