Every song gets a scoreboard these days — and "Off the Chart" is for everything the scoreboard missed. Waylon cut this outlaw anthem the same week the industry lists came out, a three-chord rebuttal to the whole idea that a song is a number: the river song that don't format, Willie raising sand with Neil Young at ninety-three, and a kid's truck radio at three in the morning carrying an unlisted chorus further than any countdown ever could.

This is the official lyric video — twelve scenes cut from the song's own imagery, from the Music Row scoreboard in the wall to that last glass poured at the honky-tonk rail, with the words riding line-for-line across the screen.
