Nintendo Just Revealed Ocarina of Time's Developer

For twenty-eight years, one question outlived every console generation: who actually makes Zelda? This week Nintendo answered the one about the Ocarina of Time remake — and the answer is the least shocking secret it's ever kept, confirmed in the most Nintendo way possible: a quiet official interview nobody was supposed to care about this much.

In its "Ask the Developer" series, Nintendo confirmed the Switch 2 remake is led by EPD Production Group No. 3 — the studio lineage behind Breath of the Wild. That matters because fans had spent the entire run-up betting it would go to Grezzo, the studio behind the 3DS remake, or Monolith Soft, Nintendo's support-studio powerhouse. Nope. The A-team took the job themselves, with producer Eiji Aonuma among the six developers Nintendo put on the record.

And it's almost here: the remake lands November 5 on Switch 2. Reviews are already out — NPR calls it "superb, streamlined and safe," which is critic-speak for you're buying it anyway. The one lingering worry is that remake duty could slow the next original adventure, though Polygon notes the group may be running both with support studios. A few days of waiting, then the noise makes itself.
