Marigolds (Official Lyric Video)
The oldest unopened drawer in the songbook, finally pulled open on camera.
Marigolds was written back in April — September 14, to be exact, the first Country-Bright Monday of the channel — and it's the self-sabotage song: the girl who buys marigold seed packets every single spring and never plants them. Who whispers "this is the year" like a vow she never finishes. Who calls it patience when it's just fear of wanting. The bridge is the confession and the turn: the seed was never fragile — it was always me. I'm the only frost this garden ever met.
Tonight it gets its film. Every image in the video is pulled from the lyric sheet itself — the seed rack in April light, the drawer full of unopened Aprils, the hand that comes down before the question's through, Granddad's trowel with the price tag still on the handle, and one orange marigold pushing up through a sidewalk crack, stubborn as anything. Day-one listeners will catch the shoebox scene: a paper crown, won at nine, never worn. Same drawer. Same regret. It's where the whole songbook started.
By the final chorus she's on her knees by the kitchen door, tearing open twenty springs of April. The soil's still waiting — so am I.
