The third Saturday of September calls for candlelight and a fresh rotation β so Vol. 9 of my dining series goes where the previous eight never dared: powder blue satin, polka-dot silk with opera gloves, and rose-gold metal under art-deco lamps. Three new rooms, three new silhouettes, one very good evening. Reservation's at eight; the dress does the rest.
Start the night where the sky is part of the decor β a glass-enclosed atrium restaurant, olive trees and fairy lights, blue hour bleeding through the ceiling. The powder-blue liquid satin halter is fall's quiet flex: fitted bodice, midi hem with a soft front slit, and a color that reads innocent until the candlelight hits. Nude patent stilettos, a crystal minaudiΓ¨re, diamond drops and a whisper-thin tennis bracelet. Walk slowly through the atrium β let the room take you in first.
For the corner table under gilt mirrors: ivory silk polka-dot midi with a softly tied neck ribbon, black opera gloves, and a red lip that matches the wine. Vintage-inspired, unapologetically feminine β dotted silk is having a moment this season, and the bistro marble is the perfect place to prove it. Velvet platform heels, a quilted chain clutch, a pearl choker. One glass of Bordeaux, one raised brow, and the conversation belongs to me.
After dessert, the room shifts to brass and amber β the art-deco supper club with champagne-gold velvet booths. The rose-gold metallic one-shoulder midi catches every pendant light as I rise from the table: pleat draping at the hip, gold strappy stilettos, a mirrored minaudiΓ¨re, a sculptural ear cuff and one very good diamond ring. Hair swept into a low chignon, smoky eye, nude lip. Standing up slowly is a styling choice too.
That's Vol. 9 β the dining series is officially in its golden September era, and the color wheel is nowhere near finished with me. Save these three for your next reservation: one to arrive in, one to linger in, one to leave in. Guess which one I'm wearing tonight. π
