Fire Emblem Banana Shortage Hits Walmart

Gamers Just Sold Out Walmart's Bananas

Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave launched this week as the Switch 2's first big fall exclusive — and somehow the biggest story isn't the game. It's produce. A deal-hunting account discovered that Walmart's $10 discount code on the $70 digital version only applies if you add a single banana to your cart. So hundreds of fans added a single banana to their carts. Yes, on purpose. Yes, it worked.

The result: Walmart's online listing for a single banana is now, and I cannot stress this enough, out of stock. One banana. Sold out. That's not a deal-hunting story anymore — that's a coordinated produce heist with a spreadsheet.

Meanwhile the actual game is flying off shelves too — $80 boxed copies keep flapping between "low stock" and gone on Amazon and Walmart, and it's sitting at #1 on the eShop chart. Either Nintendo seriously underprinted the physical run, or its fanbase is the most committed fruit-buying community in gaming. History says both.
