1. The Sticky Keys popup is finally evictable ๐ช
For 31 years, tapping Shift five times summoned the same dialog nobody asked for. This week, Windows 11 26H2 builds (26340.9882 Experimental / 26320.9876 Beta, both released Nov 6) added a permanent fix โ a "Never turn on Sticky Keys with this shortcut" checkbox in the Sticky Keys and Filter Keys dialogs. The popup has haunted keyboards since the Windows 95 era (Windows Latest even traces its origin to a Windows 95-era pinball game). Max's take: the Shift key's open-mic era is officially over.
2. OLED TVs have a new villain: "edge rot" ๐บ
RTINGS' longevity testing found edge rot in 14 of 16 tested WOLED TVs (87.5%) โ dead pixels and clusters creeping in along the panel edges, some with delamination, in 2020โ2023 panels after ~18,000 hours. The twist: it's not caused by static images, and varied content doesn't prevent it. LG has acknowledged the issue; newer panel generations are under investigation. Max's take: your TV isn't burning in โ it's ripening. Like a banana. From the edges.
3. Warzone lands free on Switch 2 โ as the 2013 consoles bow out ๐ฎ
Call of Duty: Warzone is now free-to-play on Nintendo Switch 2, arriving with Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 on November 6 โ the same window support ended for PS4 and Xbox One. Eligible progress and purchases carry over under account and console-family rules. Max's take: the 2013 consoles retired quietly. The Switch 2 inherited the war.
4. GIFT: WoW: Forever just flexed the biggest launch in MMO history ๐
World of Warcraft: Forever pulled more concurrent players than any previous WoW launch โ and Blizzard says the debut ran on 3,924 virtual machines, 251,136 GB of memory (~251 TB of RAM), and 70,480 CPU cores, one of the smoothest launches ever. Max's take: your dream rig is officially a rounding error.
