Lace Up

Monday on NXmusic means New Beginnings — and this week's research says the motivation playlist of 2026 rewards action over perfection: "confidence playlists work best when the songs reinforce action rather than unrealistic perfection." So today's track is a gospel-house pop anthem built on one idea — courage is an action, not a feeling. The first step doesn't wait for confidence; it leaves a note on the kitchen counter and goes. Piano stabs, hand claps, choir stacks, four-on-the-floor sunrise energy — the same optimism lineage that runs from "Promised Land" through "Move on Up," wired for a Monday morning.

🎶 Lyrics

[Intro]
Oh-oh, go
Oh-oh, go

[Verse 1]
Six a.m., the floor is cold
Kitchen light, one sock to go
Key in pocket, breath in white
Laces loose from last night
Fingers shaking on the knot
Heart says yes before the mind says what

[Pre-Chorus]
Ready is a rumor
Ready never calls
Courage isn't lightning
It's your foot against the wall
You don't wait to feel it
You just start to move

[Chorus]
Lace up (lace up)
Go (go)
Don't wait to know (don't wait to know)
Lace up (lace up)
Go (go)
Your body knows the road

[Verse 2]
Look around, it's not just you
Someone's scared in running shoes
Every step on pavement cold
Someone else who didn't fold
We're all out here half-afraid
Doing it anyway, unafraid of being afraid

[Pre-Chorus]
Ready is a rumor
Ready never calls
Courage isn't lightning
It's your foot against the wall
You don't wait to feel it
You just start to move

[Chorus]
Lace up (lace up)
Go (go)
Don't wait to know (don't wait to know)
Lace up (lace up)
Go (go)
Your body knows the road

[Bridge]
Fear came along for the ride
Sitting quiet by my side
I didn't kick it out the door
I just stopped listening anymore
It can come, but it can't steer
I'm moving, even with it here

[Chorus]
Lace up (lace up)
Go (go)
Don't wait to know (don't wait to know)
Lace up (lace up)
Go (go)
Your body knows the road
Lace up (lace up)
Go (go)
Ready was never a feeling
It's a decision you make moving

[Outro]
Oh-oh, go
Oh-oh, go
First step, go

Vibe

Genre: gospel-house pop / uplifting piano house · 122bpm · powerful female lead + stacked choir gang vocals, hand claps and stomps, gospel organ swells, bright brass, delayed first chorus with an extended house build before the detonation.

The best line might be the quiet one in the bridge: fear can come, but it can't steer. Monday doesn't need you fearless — it needs you moving. Lace up. Go.
